SHORT BIO
Adrian G. Simmons was first elected to the Laurel City Council on July 1, 2024 and was sworn into office two days later, pleased to immediately go to work for the people of Laurel.
A resident of Laurel his entire life, he grew up in south Laurel with his two brothers, and today resides in Ward 1 where, with his wife, they raise four romping boys of their own. His professional career started as a financial statement auditor with KPMG Baltimore in 2000, following graduation summa cum laude from Loyola University Maryland with a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. Then in 2002, he left KPMG and joined the small CPA practice his Dad had founded and continuously operated in Laurel since 1977. Councilman Simmons later officially bought out the practice in 2014 and today, serves small businesses and their owners from his Main Street offices as ElementsCPA.
Over the years, Adrian has been involved in various local and area activities, from a kid completing his Eagle Scout project helping Elizabeth House in Laurel, to serving 10+ years on the Board of Trustees for the Maryland Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation, to 6+ years on the Parish Finance Advisory Council at his church here in Laurel. Councilman Simmons also serves as Cubmaster for local Cub Scout Pack 1250 and provides tax counsel for local non-profits navigating the complexities of their tax-exempt status. He’s a member of the Laurel Board of Trade, the Maryland Association of CPAs, and other professional and charitable organizations.
Adrian is a huge fan of letterpress printing, prefers dark chocolate, loves to explore nature’s wonders with his family, and enthusiastically enjoys July 4th each year!
